Louise Spieler

Louise Spieler is MTC’s enterprise management consultant, focusing on MTC’s evolution from a year-long program to an independent network organization.

As a consultant and strategist, she advises senior leaders and builds complex initiatives by aligning teams, partners, and stakeholders around shared goals and clear execution paths.

She brings an entrepreneurial, coalition-driven approach to strategy, program design, and organizational change, with deep experience launching new models in media, education, and public service, including large-scale innovation centers, digital learning programs, and global experiential initiatives.

Experience

For nearly two decades at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media, Louise held senior leadership roles focused on strategy, innovation, and student-centered program development, including serving as senior associate dean for strategy and administration with oversight of budgets, educational technology, student services, and new initiatives. Her work included leading the Knight Foundation-funded Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Local Media. Earlier, she was co-owner and publisher of The News-Record.

Current

Louise advises MTC on operating model development, organizational structure and revenue strategy. She works closely with MTC stakeholders on budget planning, grants management, program expansion and partnership relationships.

Expertise

Spieler holds a B.A. with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Maryland, and brings a global perspective and deep commitment to collaborative, meaningful transformation.
